Apparently, my last post about Waco’s new restaurants was pretty popular! I guess everyone can’t wait to find out about new food coming to Wacotown. So, I’ve been on the hunt to find out what other new eateries we can get excited about sinking our teeth into!
NEW AND ALREADY OPEN
Olive Branch Express (opened July ’17)
624 Washington Ave
7:30am – 6pm Monday-Friday
A new addition to the deliciousness of The Olive Branch with ready made homemade treats, sandwiches, soups, salads, and pre-made dinner options (chef meals). They also carry Oh My Juice products. I love The Olive Branch, so it’s exciting to know there is a quick option nearby.
Guess Family BBQ (opened January ’17)
326 S. 6th St.
11am-4pm (or until they run out) Thursday-Saturday
This is rumored to be some of the best BBQ in town! It’s walking distance from the Silos, and I can say that it’s yummy smell is enough to bring people to it’s inconspicuous location.
Big Pop’s Old Fashioned Burgers (opened May ’17)
324 David Dr.
10am-6pm Monday-Friday
10am-4pm Saturday
This place doesn’t have a website but all the Google reviews gave it high ratings. They serve burgers, chicken fingers, chili pie and even fried pickles! Near Cameron Park.
Noggin Fuel (opened February ’17)
1211 Speight Ave.
10am-7pm
Smoothie and juice bar with yummy lunch options like chicken or vegan wraps and superfood or avocado bowls. Near Baylor.
The Clay Pot – (new location opening any day)
416 Franklin Ave
This Vietnamese food restaurant isn’t new to Waco, but it’s moving right into downtown now and should re-open any day!
WHAT’S COMING:
Westside Pizza Co. (hoping to open October ’17)
7608 Woodway Dr.
This new pizzeria will be opening in Woodway near the movie theater (yay! finally a restaurant there!). Sounds like they will have delicious pizza and be right next door to an additional Common Grounds location.
Magnolia Table – formerly The Elite Cafe (rumored to open by spring 2018)
2132 S. Valley Mills Dr.
Adding to the Magnolia fame and increasing all-access exposure into Waco’s economy, Chip and Joanna are set to open their restaurant sure to be filled with all things delicious and with a cutesy name to go with it.
Milo Biscuit Company (early 2018)
1020 Franklin Ave.
While you can still find them at the Magnolia Silos’ food trucks, this brick and mortar expansion is going to be an exciting addition to the Franklin Avenue improvements.
Here’s to eating all the yummy food!
*I found an awesome resource at Waco & The Heart of Texas website’s visitors’ dining guide. Another source is the Waco Tribune’s Nibbles: “Nibbles is Access Waco’s bi-weekly mini-profile of Waco-area restaurants and food trucks that are new or have had a major change in menu or operations.”
