Greetings new friends! I am super excited to be a part of the Waco Moms Blog. My name is Crystal and I live in Lorena. I was born in Waco and have lived in and around here my entire life.
My husband, Nick, and I met at Lorena High School and married soon after we graduated. When you know, you know! Fifteen years later, we are happily raising our kids in an area we love. We have three children, Grace (20), James (18) and Joseph (16). Our daughter attends MCC and the boys are both in high school. Nick and I formed our tribe a little over 13 years ago when we became foster parents, which later lead to their adoption.
When I think back, we may have been a little crazy to become foster parents at age 23 but we definitely felt called to be parents early on. We had no idea when we married that our family would be created through adoption alone but we have always trusted in God’s plan. I have always told my children that they were born from my heart. It’s been a long journey that has taught us so much.
Our family is a little bit of a hot mess but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Putting the fun in dysfunctional is how we roll in our fast paced, jam packed life. And guess what? We want to do it again! We are currently praying for a way to adopt a newborn. So this part of our story is far from over.
I live my life to love God and love people. I sing in our worship band at Journey Lorena where Nick and I also serve on the church leadership team along with hosting a weekly life group. Our daughter also serves as the Children’s Ministry leader, which we are very proud of.
I have a BA in Early Childhood Education and a Masters degree in Teaching & Learning with Technology. Up until this school year, I was a kindergarten teacher and loved it! This past summer I transitioned into working from home where I write my blog, Kreative in Life, travel all over the U.S. speaking at Early Childhood Education Conferences and providing professional development for school districts. Outside of my consultant business, I also have an online tshirt shop and I create and sell early childhood curriculum.
On Kreative in Life, I write about education, parenting, travel, fashion, infertility, faith and really whatever floats my boat at any given time. I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to write for the Waco Moms Blog and showcase all of the wonderful things going on right in our backyard. Home is where the heart is and my heart is certainly here!
