Meet Destiny Cookus

Hey guys! I’m Destiny. I’m a 26-year-old mama of two wonderful boys. Zac is 2 and a half and Ryan just joined our family this March. I was born and raised deep in the heart of San Antonio, TX and moved to Waco to go to college at Baylor. I met my husband while in college and when we got married, we decided to start our lives together in this charming little city. 

About 3 months after we got married, my husband and I learned that we were going to be parents. I had just graduated from Baylor and he was only a few months in to his first teaching job, so it was definitely an unexpected surprise. We grew up quite a bit during those 9 short months, though. We traded in my 2-door sports car for a more family-friendly SUV. We moved out of our starter apartment. I got my first real job. Becoming parents was hands down, the best thing to ever happen to us. 

I’m a music teacher and my husband is a band director. It’s safe to say we like making music in our house. We are also fond of street tacos, sci-fi movies, good coffee, and game nights (although those don’t happen often these days).  When I get alone time, I like to sit in Barnes & Noble or Starbucks with an iced latte and a good book, or I’ll spend some time browsing through the clearance aisles at Target or the Gap. Really though, I’m a complete extrovert and I thrive when I’m surrounded by people and good conversation, especially when I’m surrounded by moms of littles. We seem to have a lot in common.

I started blogging mostly as a hobby after Zachary was born because I felt like I needed to remember as much as I could about the transition into motherhood. I wanted to document every little lesson that I learned and reflect on and sort out my feelings while he was still young. You can read all about those early days at littlebearshugs.blogspot.com. 

I’m really excited to start contributing to Waco Moms Blog! I love getting to share the exciting things going on locally and pouring into the lives of mothers.
