Meet Sarah Nazarian

Hi moms! I’m Sarah Nazarian. My husband and I LOVE living in Waco and love raising our four kids here!

I grew up in Kentucky, and came to Waco for Baylor in 2003. My husband, Jared, and I met our senior year on a mission trip with our church in 2007. We both immediately knew that we had found “the one” and got engaged after only knowing each other 3 months. We were married in 2008 in Waco while I completed a Discipleship Training School, and he worked in the business world. I worked for a couple years doing graphic design and creating jewelry. When our first baby came along, I knew I wanted to stay home full time, and God made a way for that to happen! I am grateful for the extra time with my kids, and I love being a mama!

“The days are long but the years are short” is certainly ringing true!  Our oldest, Emery, is now 6 years old.  Ruby is 4, and Mabry is almost 3.  Our little guy, Judah, is 1 and is a true boy – always climbing, exploring, and getting into mischief! He certainly keeps me on my toes after 3 relatively “easy” girls!

My husband now works in education. He worked for Waco ISD for several years and was awarded the campus, district, and regional Teacher of the Year awards in 2015. In 2016, he accepted the position for Headmaster at Valor Preparatory Academy. It has been such a perfect fit for our family and for his talents. We are THRILLED that Emery attends Kindergarten at Valor.  She attends Valor three days a week, and I homeschool her two days a week. I love being her teacher and love teaching my other kids, too!

Teaching is a big part of our lives, and so is reading. I am an avid reader, and I seem to have passed on that enthusiasm to my kids. We go through a lot of books and are big fans of the Waco library. We also love to garden as a family and are always trying new things in our backyard. The Farmer’s Market is a favorite of ours, and we like to EAT so we love good local restaurants too!

Personally, I have a long list of interests. My hobbies definitely take second seat to my role as a mom, but I’m more than ok with it! I love crafts and sewing, and creative endeavors are my main hobbies. I dabble in photography and graphic design. I love getting to be creative in the kitchen and enjoy trying new recipes with my family. I am also very passionate about social justice issues. I traveled internationally when I was younger and saw a lot of poverty and disparity in the world and feel motivated to engage these issues. I am involved with Sole Hope and Compassion International, and I love connecting my kids to God’s heart through these organizations as well.

I love to empower moms and relate to them. I know that when I became a mom, I had no idea what I was in for! So, I love to be able to connect with people and encourage them in this journey. It’s not easy but it is so, so worth it! Some of the resources I have written and designed can be found at shinebrightmom.com. I don’t blog a lot, but my hope is that the resources I do provide will bring intentionality and purpose to other families.

I am so excited for this opportunity to connect with other moms through Waco City Moms Blog!
