If you have dreamt of that suburban, stroller pushing, walking crew with a house that has all but the picket fence – you’ve found your spot. Beautiful, newer, masonry construction where things can be a little cookie cutter, but who doesn’t love cookies?! Several of the county’s most pristine planned communities are located here and you can find some of those coveted neighborhood amenities like parks, community pools, and even sidewalks (what you’ll find to not be as frequently seen around our Texas streets).
WOODWAY & HEWITT
SUBURBAN VIBES FIT FOR FAMILIES
Or if you still want the mature trees and diverse 1970s-80s home styles with maybe even room for a few personal touches, the hills of Bosque or Poage Park would be a great compromise. Hewitt offers a more rustic, older and nearly country small town feel while still being right in the middle of the action with Hewitt Drive connecting I-35 and HWY 84 (our main veins in Greater Waco). This area of McLennan County features the highly rated (but large) Midway ISD, some of the best of the few private daycare options in town and the most popular HEB Plus around. Around here you are “in town”, but not “up or down town” hence “Midway”.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Very centrally located with easy access to nearly all of the surrounding communities, business districts, hospitals and schools. However, Woodway is not what anyone might consider a high “walk score” as you’ll want to drive.
Woodway HEB is by far the most popular (and thus crowded) HEB amongst the family crowds. Thankfully, they offer a large curbside pick up option as well as a delivery service that allows you to enjoy the great store brands and necessities with ease. There are also 2 Super Walmarts and a small Super IGA Hewitt which is a little like stepping back in time with its oldies station playing over the small town grocery speakers.
Midway is one of the most highly rated school districts in the state, with more National Merit Scholars than most any other public high school. With that comes a lot of students and competition for sports, clubs and other opportunities. Midway offers pre-K through 12th grade enrollment has grown to more than 8,750 students at eight elementary schools, two middle schools and a 6A (the largest division in Texas) high school.
