Have you been to TopGolf Waco? When we saw the towering poles and netting in place from high atop the I-35 flyover, my family’s collective heart skipped a beat. It was coming!
Waco first heard the news that TopGolf planned to open a Waco location in February 2020, just a few weeks before the COVID virus and quarantine turned our city’s world upside down. Despite the construction struggles of the pandemic, TopGolf Waco opened its doors on Friday, April 23,2021, and it’s been bustling ever since.
Our family first encountered TopGolf in Allen, TX, when visiting family, and it quickly became a favorite spot. We loved the laid-back atmosphere and the joy of cheering each other. We returned to the Allen location multiple times, checked out the one in Austin at The Domain, and even made a stop at the one in Cincinnati during a family trip to Kentucky. But the best part is that we now have one in Waco’s backyard!
What is TopGolf?
TopGolf began as an answer to the competitive nature of golfers to determine who hit the ball closer to hole using RFID technology. In 2012, TopGolf transformed from being a great big driving range into an full-scale entertainment venue, complete with games, tv screens, food, drinks, and fun. Initially only found with multi-story buildings in large metro areas, TopGolf introduced smaller “backyard style” venues in developing areas in 2020 and brought this concept to the wonderful world of Waco. You don’t have to be a golfer to enjoy this place!
What can you do at TopGolf?
TopGolf Waco offers a taste of everything you can find at the larger venues. The 30 climate-controlled hitting bays offer traditional “hit close to the hole” games, but our family favorite is the Angry Birds game. Everyone can play and win, regardless of golf ability! The bays include seating, tables, food service, and tv, so you can play, watch, eat, and drink all at the same time. The 9-hole miniature golf course is another activity for the whole family. It’s only $5 for age 4+ and FREE on Mondays! The covered patio with 13-foot video wall is a great place to meet, eat, and play with friends, complete with cornhole, giant jenga, and other fun yard games. It creates the perfect place to meet friends, grab dinner, watch the game, and let the kids play. You can also just stop by to enjoy the full-service restaurant and bar, featuring a selection of local brews. Ready to party? TopGolf Waco has event planners ready to guide you through preparing for a kids birthday to renting the full facility for a company celebration.
How much does it cost?
Everyone who plays at TopGolf gets a lifetime membership for a one-time $5 fee. AFter that, you pay for the bay and a bay holds up to 6 people. Bay pricing varies based on the day and the time, ranging from $12.50 on Tuesdays to $45 on Friday nights. The TopGolf Waco website has all the pricing information, as well as the current wait time available. You also can reserve a bay online. If you find yourself hooked after a couple of visits, you can purchase a Platinum Membership! There are multiple levels to fit your family and finances, all of which include unlimited game play for different times of the week.
