The month of LOVE is here and you know what that means … date night! Waco may not top the list of most romantic place in Texas but it sure has it’s charm. Whether it’s Valentine’s Day or just another special time year, here are my recommendations for top 6 places to escape in Waco for a date night.
- Opal’s Oysters | This new hot spot in town is getting RAVE reviews. I haven’t been (yet) but hope to go soon! If you’re like me, oysters may not be your #1 meal choice BUT all of my friends have said you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu! I’ve even heard the steak is amazing! If you want to wander downtown for dinner Opal’s is sure to be the place that makes you feel like you’ve escaped the city.
- Red Herring | Located at Hotel Herringbone, this swanky restaurant and bar is a cozy spot for a date night! The eclectic, unique vibe they provide coupled with the occasional live entertainment is more than worth a visit. Enjoy a coastal Mediterranean inspired menu and artisan craft cocktail menu while you take in the converted brick warehouse with 50’s and 60’s décor. And trust me when I say, “Try the potatoes!”
- Bertie’s on the Rooftop | Hotel 1928 is certainly sure to impress, and if you want a view for dinner, this is the place to go! The restaurant downstairs, The Brasserie, has a cool vibe and great menu, but who doesn’t love dinner outdoors? Waco many not be known for its outdoor eating weather, but Bertie’s is the place to be to soak in those heart of Texas sunsets!
- Pivovar | Another unique date night spot is this Czech atmosphere from start to finish. Dining at Pivovar provides an experience that makes you feel like you’ve stepped out of Waco without stepping out of Waco! They also have their own brewery and if you’re wanting to do a stay-cation after dinner, their hotel rooms are dreamy.
- The Butcher’s Cellar | Don’t want to go downtown? Hop on over to The Butcher’s Cellar at the Outlook in Woodway for a sweet date night spot. Be ready for décor like you’ve never seen before! From elegant , you’ll be starring for hours. All of their menu items are made to share, so fair warning when you order! You won’t go wrong in choosing this hidden gem.
- Di Campli’s Italian Ristorante | Right off Hwy 84 is some of the best Italian food in Central Texas! The owner is the friendliest man you’ll ever meet and their staff always goes above and beyond. My husband swears by the bruschetta appetizer and I can’t ever get away from the Salmon, truthfully. If you’re seeking an authentic Italian experience, look no further than Di Campli’s!
I’m a fan of “shopping local” to give back to those who work hard for Central Texas so pencil in a date night, stat!
