Strawberry Pepper Smoothie Recipe

smoothie recipe

Want something cool and healthy for the kids to eat? My kiddos and I played around in the kitchen and made an awesome smoothie that the whole family is loving. The ingredient amounts can be adjusted to taste and you can alter the recipe to make more or less than the 18oz that this recipe provides!

Ingredients:

2 C frozen strawberries
1 medium carrot
1/2 red bell pepper
1/2 C orange juice
2 Tbl honey
1 Tbl lemon juice
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground ginger

Recipe:

  1. Place frozen strawberries in a bowl of water to thaw a bit. The more you thaw them, the less frozen your smoothie will be. ** If you choose to thaw them completely, this will be more like a juice rather than a smoothie. **
  2. Wash and cut up the carrot and red bell pepper so they fit in your blender and are easier to dice.
  3. Put strawberries, carrot slices and red bell pepper in the blender.
  4. Add the honey, cinnamon, and ginger.
  5. Then place the lemon juice and orange juice over the top.

  6. Blend until everything is nice and smooth.
  7. Taste to make any desired adjustments. More spice or kick can be added with extra cinnamon and ginger. More sweetness can be added with extra honey. More acid can be added with extra orange or lemon juice.
  8. Serve and enjoy!

We are loving this smoothie recipe for quick morning breakfast or an afternoon treat to beat the heat. Check out this post from Houston Moms Blog for some other great options and let us know if you try any of them in the comments below!
