As I write this, I can’t believe we have entered May! Mother’s Day is quickly approaching and we wanted to share with you the best spots to get your perfect Mother’s Day gift; don’t be scared to send this on to the guys in your life if they need a gentle nudge.
One thing that sets Waco apart is our entrepreneurial spirit. I love following all of the new and exciting ventures around town. As a fellow small business owner, I try to shop local whenever possible. Every local shopper makes a difference and it is a great way to support a fellow Wacoan. Here are some local Mother’s Day gift favorites from yours truly!
For the Mom who loves to Shop:
A gift card or special outfit is always a win win! Shop Beeloved, Courtney’s Boutique, and Mainstream Boutique are some of our favorites around town. Fox and Grey also has a great selection of candles, geometry dish towels (I promise this isn’t the equivalent of a vacuum they make my kitchen so happy!), and small jewelry, in addition to clothing items.
For the Foodie Mom:
Spoil the mom in your life with a great meal at one of our newer restaurants! Some favorites are Oak and Ivy, Maria Mezcaleria (amazing drinks!), Clay Pot (just re-opened). Revival Eastside Eatery and The Olive Branch are some of my go to lunch standbys. Earn extra points by making reservations!
For the Mom who loves to Decorate and Entertain:
Lane’s on Austin is a favorite (she might even have a wishlist!). They have everything from cute frames and jewelry to gorgeous decorating pieces and entertaining dishes. It has been newly redone within the past year, and I personally could buy everything in the store. The staff has great taste and will help you pick out the perfect gift.
For the Mom who wants to Relax:
A manicure/pedicure is one of my favorite options – Nail Creations is my go to! Or even better, offer to take the mental load off for the day
! Make every decision from kids outfits to where every meal is happening. A day without having to make a decision sounds like a dream to this working mom! Pura Vida is a great massage option if you want to send a lucky mom off for some pampering.
For the Mom who escapes with a good Book:
Fabled is full of something for everyone! You can even set up an appointment with their book buyer for a special treat and handpicked recommendations! If you haven’t stopped into our favorite independent book store, then you are missing out.
For the Mom who loves Traditional Gifts:
If the mom in your life expects chocolates and flowers, then support local with Bloom Waco and Splendid Oaks Chocolate! We promise she won’t be disappointed! Spice Village is also full of choices – from jewelry and clothes to lotions. Morrison’s Gifts and Homestead Heritage provide great options, too!
For the Mom To Be or Brand New Mom:
A massage from Wacotown Massage is a great way to get some R&R in for new mamas For expecting moms, look into a ticket to the next Feeding Baby Basics class from CompleoKids/Grow Baby Nutrition. This Little Movers Course provides great ideas on ways to play and bond with a new baby! Cottontail Jones is a great place to check out if the mom in your life is looking to get newborn clothes ready for a new arrival.
For the Mom who loves Experiences:
Have Dreamy Picnics set up an event for an outing with the family at the park! Make it extra special if you ensure that you snap some great pictures with her in the pictures and not behind the lens! Or check out The Arboretum in Woodway! It just re-opened and is a fantastic spot for a fun family day.
