Springtime is Texas is fleeting! Anyone who has lived in Central Texas for any amount of time knows our days to enjoy outdoors are numbered before the blistering heat of summer hits. We at Waco Moms believe you should make the most of those few and far between springtime days. Carleen Bright Arboretum

The local arboretum offers gorgeous scenery for a play date with friends, or just enjoying the beauty of the butterflies and flowers. Recently renovated, Carleen Bright has become a hot spot for family photos, local events and weddings alike. Arbo Fest will be held this year on April 28th and is free to attend. Aboud Family Farm

Salado is approximately 45 mins from Waco and full of fun, family friendly activities like Aboud Family Farm. From mulberries to locally farmed honey – there are plenty of delicious aspects to a day spent at Aboud. Do yourself a favor and go blackberry picking – make it a competition and see who collects the most!

Robinson Family Farm

Robinson Family Farm is a staple in Central Texas. If you haven’t visited during their Easter Eggstravaganza, you likely have heard of their infamous pumpkin patch that happens each fall. Be sure to carve out an entire day to enjoy all of the fun thing to do/see/eat including Easter Bunny phot ops, Tangled Creek Wine and Biergarten, axe throwing, playground and more! Also, don’t miss the opportunity to experience their Solar Eclipse party on April 8.

Cameron Park Zoo

Cameron Park Zoo is always a great place to take the kids, but this spring they have several fun things happening outside of their normal visiting hours. They are offering “Locked Zoo,” which is a zoo-sized escape room where you solve a series of puzzles to finish the game before time runs out, while learning about different species of animals at the zoo. They also offer several sessions of Comic Con where you can dress up as your favorite comic book character, enjoy food trucks and keeper chats. A special Solar Eclipse event will be offered on April 8th – more details can be found on their website.

Camp Fimfo

Camp Fimfo is an awesome staycation option, offering outdoor concerts, survival games, crafts, water activities in their lagoon-style pool, splash pad, putt-putt, tennis, basketball and so much more. They also offer day passes and extended stays – truly a spot for everyone!

Brazos Bluffs Ranch

Offering different types of rides, Brazos Bluffs Ranch has something for everyone. You can choose from a 90-minute horseback journey or the 2.5 hour sunset ride. Currently, they are also offering a special Solar Eclipse ride option! Interested in lodging on site? The ranch has authentic log cabin experiences, too!

Western Belle Farm

A cute family-run farm in West, Texas offers events for Easter starting towards the end of March, and strawberry picking, for $5/lb starting March 12. Other fun activities include egg hunts, apple cannons, zip lines, duck races, food on the farm, and more. Check their website for more info on admission prices and times!

Lake Waco Wetlands

This thriving ecosystem is beautiful during springtime – full of new life to explore! Home to a variety of different plants and animals, the wetlands are the perfect place to experience nature at its finest.

Baylor Bear Habitat

Now that the weather is warming up, the bears are enjoying playing in their habitat and seeing as many as 250,000 visitors each year. Indy and Belle are always entertaining to watch and certainly a hit with the kids!

Cottonbelt Trail

Enjoy hiking, biking or a stroll with your dog amongst the all the outdoor beauty of the 5 mile round trip trail! Be sure to pay attention to the construction that is impacting the trail till the end of summer 2024.
