Christian Childbirth Classes | Now in Waco!

Many women are unprepared for childbirth. Let’s face it, for some of us, all we have is the image of a woman from a 90s TV show screaming “hee-hee-hoo” to get through contractions. But beyond that, and what we have all read in What to Expect When You’re Expecting, we are going in blind.

But contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t have to be that way! Rooted in Christ (RIC) Childbirth Classes are in-person, Christian-based, birthing classes. And they are now available to YOU here in Waco and surrounding areas.

Laura Butler

Laura Butler, the founder of RIC, has been a nurse for 25 years and is honored to have brought 1,000+ babies into this world. Many of the little ones she has helped deliver belong to her best friends, fellow church members, and colleagues at the hospital. Currently, she is an OB professor, a giant Baylor fan, and has 4 children of her own. She loves mentoring new moms and longs to bring couples together to reduce anxiety and support them while strengthening their marriage simultaneously.

Laura, and her co-educator, Natalie Long, are bringing alive

Natalie Long

the biblical approach to childbirth education. Both ladies are Christian Registered Nurses who specialize in the field of Obstetrics. They have a larger desire to not just educate couples approaching childbirth, but to do so using Biblical principles.

Laura and Natalie have combined their vast OB and education backgrounds to give you evidence-based knowledge alongside the spiritual nourishment that, at times, is missing in childbirth education.

Rooted in Christ, along with Laura and Natalie, believe:

  • God is the sovereign creator over all.
  • Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior, the only Son of God.
  • The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God and is applicable to our lives today.
  • Every good and perfect gift is from God.

This course is designed to prepare you and your support person for the miracle of life. The classes are perfect for first-time and experienced parents alike. Sessions will cover topics including, but not limited to:

  • Changes in the Body
  • Signs of Labor
  • Breathing Techniques
  • Preparing for Delivery
  • Support after Baby Arrives

RIC desires to create a community of women, and couples, who are preparing for birth; pre-pandemic this was a beautiful result of childbirth classes, and we would love for community to grow as it did before. The time spent with Laura, Natalie, and other couples each week will allow a safe place for friendships to form, support to arise, and excitement to build for the arrival of everyone’s baby.

The fall session of RIC Childbirth Classes will begin in less than one month and final spots are being filled, so don’t wait to secure your slot. Below are specific details for the upcoming session.

Class begins November 6, 2023 and will run for 5, 2-hour sessions to prepare couples for childbirth and beyond. All classes will be held at Highland Baptist Church in their New Wellness Center (2924 Trice Ave, Waco, TX 76707).
