Waco Moms Blog Continues to Grow | Meet Shauna Goldbach

Hi Waco mamas! I’m Shauna Goldbach. I was born and raised in Southern California and made my way to Waco in 2005, when I was just 15 years old (I was here before Waco was considered “cool” hehe) I never really loved Waco, in fact, I wanted to be as far away from here as possible.

I didn’t consider it home, and I thought that people didn’t come here to pursue their dreams, but this is where dreams died..morbid I know, just hang in there with me.

I ran as fast as I could to Nashville, TN where I pursued a degree in Commercial Music. While in college I reconnected with an old friend (from Waco, ironically) turned hunky marine and we were married a year later! I graduated from Belmont University in 2014 and the day after graduation we packed up and moved back to Texas, with me kicking and screaming the entire way.

We planted our feet for a short season in Austin where I taught private voice and early childhood music. But something kept nudging me back to the good ole’ 254. After the birth of our daughter, Harper, in 2016 I craved family. I didn’t care if it was in a city I despised, I wanted to be near them.

Coming back, I was eating every single crappy word I ever said about this place. My heart had changed, I was starting to love this town. The people, the places, the hidden gems. I realized THIS is where I belonged… all along. I then had my second baby in 2017, Greyson, and his birth launched me into another realm of motherhood I never thought I’d be. Crunchy motherhood. I found my village here, my church, and connected with mamas who held the same ideals and values as I do.

I have built an entire life in the very place I wanted to run the farthest from. Life is funny that way, and God sure does have a sense of humor. But I can’t imagine myself living anywhere else, and thankfully because of my husband’s job, we don’t have to!

My husband and I both work from home. He is a real estate investor in the area, and I am a wellness educator with Young Living Essential Oils, but I do make time use my degree with teaching Music Together.

I also started a blog called Lu + Grey because I think the struggles of motherhood should really be vocalized more. I don’t think we should live in silence with a smile coerced on our face. Motherhood is dirty, its rough, and many times plain ugly. Motherhood should be celebrated in all its wondrous beauty and struggles. I started this blog to connect with other mamas who I know are dealing with the same things I am and hopefully give them a voice.

So for all you mama’s reading my posts, know you are not alone in your struggles as a mom. I am SO excited to share my thoughts on this city and motherhood, and so much more!

Waco is home, Waco is MY home.
