Plan a Date with Your Kids in the New Year

I think most of us would agree that one of our most precious commodities is time. And as busy as we all are, I also believe that’s one thing most kids wouldn’t mind having: more time with their parents.

So here are several ideas of dates to plan with your child(ren) in the upcoming year. This is, by no means, an all-inclusive list, and they aren’t just limited to Waco. In fact, maybe it will inspire some creativity for you and your family to come up with dates of your own!

The Mayborn Museum

Always a local favorite, Waco is fortunate to have such a first class museum that has plenty of activities for the whole family and displays some amazing exhibits. Some of their current special exhibits are Young at Art: A Selection of Caldecott Book Illustrations (December 22, 2018-March 3, 2019) and Very Eric Carle: A Very Hungry, Quiet, Lonely, Clumsy, Busy Exhibit (January 26, 2019-May 12, 2019).

McLennan Community College Kids College

American Airlines C.R. Smith Museum

Is your child fascinated with aviation? Curious about what it takes to run an airline? Learn firsthand about the history of American Airlines through hands-on, interactive learning.

Perot Museum of Nature and Science

Take a day trip to Dallas and discover all the Perot Museum has to offer! Permanent exhibit halls, featured exhibits, traveling exhibitions and films are just a few of the incredible adventures available at the Perot Museum. And when you purchase a general admission ticket, it’s valid all day-so you can leave the museum, enjoy some other things in town and come back later for the rest of your visit.

The Dallas World Aquarium

Featuring a rainforest exhibit, endangered animals, fascinating marine life and numerous conservation projects, the Dallas World Aquarium is perfect for animal loving families. And while we’re on the subject of animals, another fun date would be the Dallas Zoo! The Dallas Zoo is home to more than 2,000 animals and exciting new exhibits like Giants of the Savanna and Wonders of the Wild!

The Dallas Arboretum

Manicured gardens, seasonal festivals and a new, 8-acre children’s adventure garden, the Dallas Arboretum features an abundance of activities and nature’s beauty.

It’s important to know what interests your child and giving them exposure to those things, but also introducing them to new things. Maybe even consider letting your child plan your date (with parental guidance, of course). But more than anything else, make time to enjoy a date with your kids and have fun!
